A Penthouse-Style Reconfiguration Designed Around View, Value, and Lifestyle

This five-bedroom residence in Vaucluse was reimagined through a strategic reconfiguration of its existing floor plan. While the home possessed exceptional harbour views, its upper level, originally designed as a formal lounge, was rarely used, despite commanding the most privileged position and direct access to a generous terrace.

The first phase of the renovation focused on transforming this level into a penthouse-style living environment. The redesigned floor now accommodates a bedroom with ensuite for short stays, a kitchen with butler’s pantry, lounge and dining areas, a powder room, and seamless access to the terrace. Designed for both everyday use and entertaining, the space maximises its outlook while remaining flexible for an owner who resides overseas and uses the home either privately or as a social gathering space.

The terrace was further enhanced with a pergola, wet bar, and outdoor kitchen, creating a refined outdoor setting that extends the living areas while fully embracing the harbour view.

The second phase reimagined the ground floor, where the original kitchen and master suite were located. The primary living area was transformed into a new master suite positioned to take full advantage of the view, while the former master suite was repurposed as a library and guest suite. Although the total number of bedrooms remained unchanged, access to the harbour outlook was dramatically improved, significantly elevating both the experience and value of the home.

Originally earmarked for demolition, the project demonstrates how a considered and intelligent renovation can enhance an existing structure, preserve its inherent qualities, and unlock its full potential delivering a high-end outcome with a measured and cost-effective approach.
